Who needs the Manhattan food scene when you’ve got Nell’s deliciously crisp pizzas on your doorstep in Manchester? Bringing together the best of UK pub culture, with games and a sociable atmosphere, with New York’s distinctive knack for pizza, this independent chain is the ultimate place to get together with friends.
Nell’s started back in 2020 and is proudly a family business, with five sites across the North, including an aesthetic, airy location at Media City in Salford. As mentioned, the concept is all about New York pizza which comes with a thin, crispy base, hand-stretched dough and charred, caramelised crust. On the menu, you’ll find lots of tasty options but first, order a couple of snacks for the table like Lancashire crisps, smoked nuts and Regina olives.
When it comes to pizza, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diners are all catered for across a spectrum of toppings. For example, there's the Barbie and Ken with shredded mozzarella, smoked Lancashire, BBQ tomato swirl, chicken, roast peppers, red onion, BBQ sauce, pickled chillies and chives; alongside the Corn Supremacy which brings together miso corn with Lancashire cheese, garlic cream, red onion, chives, crispy onion, chilli and a helping of jalapeno crema. Personally, we like the sound of the Buffalo Stance which comes with Franks RedHot Buffalo Wings sauce, chicken, smoked Lancashire, mozzarella, blue cheese, celery and chives. What's also cool is that pizzas can be ordered by the slice - NYC style - and smothered in a dip of your choice: think blue cheese, truffle mayo and chilli honey.
But Nell's isn't just about pizza. The concept is underpinned by a desire to bring people together. There's the 22 inch pizza options which are perfect for sharing with a group, the 12-person kareoke booth and shuffle board, all of which can be booked ahead of time.
