A laid-back wine bar putting the focus on natural and low-intervention wines, Native Vine Redfield offers a casual setting just off Church Road for seasonal small plates and lesser-known tipples. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed spot for midweek drinks and a light dinner, meeting for a weekend catch-up, going for a romantic date, or simply getting the friends together, Native Vine Redfield suits the full range of occasions.
Inside, the wine bar features light wood finishes, forest green tiling, and soft, warm lighting that offers an inviting setting. It feels calm, and despite its somewhat refined edge, doesn’t feel overpolished or stuffy. Shelves stacked with wine bottles line the walls, and attentive, knowledgeable staff are on hand to guide you through the selection. From the people behind the other Bristol bottle shops of the same name, the emphasis is firmly on small batch, biodynamic, and natural wines.
To match, the Native Vine menu offers a whole host of British small plates, all of them brilliant for grazing and sharing with a few glasses of natural wine. Dishes are seasonal and ingredient-led, so expect plates to vary month by month. To start, you might find snacks and nibbles like bread with butter (or jamon butter), olives, fried almonds, mixed pickles, gildas and boquerones. Set within The Bristol Loaf, we’d confidently recommend the bread - so follow with tapenade with confit garlic and sourdough, mushroom parfait and sourdough, or smoked cod’s roe with crudites.
The Native Vine menu includes a range of vegetarian dishes, including the likes of roasted cauliflower with black garlic and raisins, oyster mushrooms with salsa verde and Old Winchester, and beetroot with almond and pear. As for meat and fish eaters, think venison merguez with cashew cream, bavette with anchoïade and capers, and cod with langoustine sauce and braised fennel.
