The Mud Dock Cafe in Bristol is one of the best places to enjoy a long and lazy brunch, a delicious lunch with friends or even a romantic dinner, with its chilled out vibe and stunning views across Bristol's harbourside. A relaxed spot for all occasions, Mud Dock Cafe brings those cosy cafe vibes, as well as offering, a couple of seats on its terrace where you can sit back and soak in the sun.
Brunch is served daily, offering a small window to get your fill of eggs or pancakes. Choose from a granola bowl filled with seeds, natural yoghurt and berry compote, a rich shakshuka with roasted peppers, spinach, egg and sourdough, or a smoked haddock kedgeree with curried basmati rice, a soft boiled egg and peas. If you prefer sweet to savoury, order the buttermilk pancakes with a range of delicious toppings, including a pairing of banana, Nutella and toasted hazelnuts.
Some brunch dishes stick around a little longer, like the range of eggs favourites. There's eggs florentine, benedict and royale, along with smashed avocado eggs with whipped feta. Last but not least for brunch, there are the Mud Dock breakfast specials, including the vegan plate with scrambled tofu, hash browns, grilled tomato, home-baked beans and mushrooms.
Lunch is served from midday and there's lots to rave about. The crab and saffron risotto is a real showstopper, and the pearl barley salad with roasted carrots, pumpkin and sunflower seeds is a delicious lunchtime special. Rare roast beef, horseradish and mustard cream, slow roasted tomato and rocket comes loaded on a warm focaccia and is served with home cut chips, which we couldn't refuse. Burgers, boards and nibbles hang around into the evening, too, and as for desserts, there are some super tasty options, including an apple and blackberry crumble, and a pecan and salted caramel chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream.
