Norman’s co-founder Elliott Kaye revitalises his commitment to good food with Marrion’s Bar in Hackney. Kaye’s last project, Norman’s, provided locals with comforting classic English breakfasts, reliably good food and an honest environment, and this latest venture is sure to follow in its footsteps.
Marrion’s Bar makes for a welcome addition to the lively Hackney neighbourhood, inviting guests in for coffee, brunch, dinner or drinks. Kaye’s aim with Marrion’s is to provide somewhere to ‘eat something good and feel at home’. This intimate interior is furnished with bespoke wooden tables and vintage mirrors. The space attracts everyone in need of a spot for comforting food, drink, and conversation.
Marrion’s Bar is open Wednesday to Saturday evenings, offering a relaxed spot for drinks or dinner. Kaye’s menu combines classic and quirky dishes from devilled crab rarebit and pork schnitzel with capers and a fried egg to more traditional options such as moules frites, prawn cocktail, and a classic cheeseburger. House sandwiches are also available, including Elliot's favourite - the tuna melt - as well as a selection of sides. For cocktails, diners can choose from a curated menu of classic tipples alongside a monthly house martini. Also available is a carefully considered wine list and victoria malaga as the beer on draft.
Sunday offers an anything but boring brunch menu including the likes of boiled eggs with anchovy soldier, smoked ham with sage-fried eggs, and baked eggs with vodka sauce. Coffee comes from local roastery Dark Arts.
