This colourful coastal town in the New Forest offers itself as the perfect spot for a staycation, with access to the harbour and the New Forest. The national park, which is often thought of as a large stretch of greenery with quaint houses and pubs dotted between roaming horses, is actually home to a variety of waterside towns as well. Lymington is a historical town, with three marinas that sits at the edge of The Solent, but more than just wild horses and pretty sea views, it’s also home to plenty of first class restaurants. Restaurants include seafood focused spots making the most of the local produce through to gastro pubs offering a cosy hideaway to enjoy some good British grub. The options are limitless during a trip to this beautiful area of the country, but if you use the filters on the side of the page, it’s a good start to finding the right place for you.

Easily accessible by land and sea, Lymington sits just off the A337 for a simple route from London, as well as being reachable via a direct route on the Wightlink ferry from the Isle of Wight, for a more glamorous journey to lunch. Set at the edge of the New Forest, tucked between Southampton and Bournemouth, it looks out onto The Solent for great sea views, including impressive coastal walks overlooking The Needles for the post lunch strolls. Just as easily accessible by private boat, there are three marinas, with spaces for passing boats to moor up before heading into the town for some local fare. For places to eat in Lymington, enjoy one of the many brunch spots, get a fish and chip lunch by the sea, or dine in one of the gastropub offerings in the town. With a mix of independent restaurants, bars and cafes, it is a truly exciting place to eat, whether you’re out with the whole gang at a child friendly spot, or heading to drinks and nibbles with old friends. Wherever you decide to visit in this quaint coastal town, you’re sure to find something to take your fancy, from the restaurants with rooms, to light bite options for a fleeting visit. It’s a space to suit all holiday makers, whether travelling from neighbouring towns, or first timers in the UK, and its quintessential British feel with quaint shops and bunting lining the streets will have people returning year after year.
