Located in the vibrant heart of Moseley village, Kabuli is a warm and stylish Afghan restaurant in Birmingham, serving flavour-packed dishes inspired by the traditions of Kabul. Founded by Farhad Spinzar, who was born and raised in Afghanistan and moved to the UK in 2001, Kabuli is his tribute to the food of his childhood - prepared with care, authenticity and generosity
Kabuli blends Afghan hospitality with a modern dining experience. Inside, the décor is cosy and distinctive, featuring textured, cave-like walls, wooden tables, and comfortable booth seating, all softened by warm lighting and rustic finishes. Whether you’re planning a date night, family gathering or group celebration, Kabuli offers a relaxed and intimate atmosphere.
Head chef Ghulam leads the kitchen with a focus on traditional Afghan flavours. The star of the menu is Kabuli Pulao, a fragrant basmati rice dish cooked with raisins, sweet carrots and Afghan spices. Versions include lamb shank, half chicken, sea bass, and vegetarian options.
Other highlights include bamya (okra in tomato sauce), palak (spinach and kidney beans), and borani banjan (roasted aubergine with creamy yoghurt, garlic and sun-dried tomatoes). A selection of charcoal-grilled kebabs - including chapli, seekh, and chopan - brings depth to the menu, alongside sides like Afghani naans, spiced chickpeas, mint yoghurt, and Afghan chutney.
For dessert, enjoy baklava, halva, or Afghan cream rolls, all served with traditional Afghan tea or a selection of mocktails and soft drinks. The restaurant is fully halal, alcohol-free, and family-friendly, making it a standout choice for authentic Afghan food in Birmingham.
