HUO is a contemporary Asian restaurant, nestled in the leafy Belsize Village area of North West London. The venue continues the expansion of the popular HUO brand, following its successful flagship in Chelsea and other sister sites.
Just a short walk from Belsize Park underground station, HUO occupies a generously proportioned space designed by RIBA London–award-winning Jonathan Clark Architects. It features bright, airy interiors with a whitewashed wood-lattice ceiling, earthy-coloured panels, rattan lighting, curved upholstered banquettes and lime-washed flooring. The 86-cover dining room, a bar area seating eight, a private dining room for 18, and an outdoor terrace for 16 offer flexible options for different occasions.
Cuisine is pan-Asian, blending traditional Chinese, Thai, Malaysian and Singaporean techniques. Head chef Yam Gurung’s menu emphasises fresh, health-focused ingredients and dishes meant for sharing. Begin with small plates such as Thai lobster crackers, handmade dim sum, soft-shell crab, and soups like wonton and tom yum. Mains include standout dishes: Thai sea bass fillet with chilli and lemongrass, triple-cooked Dover sole with asparagus, garlic and chilli, crispy shredded chilli beef, and spice-minced pork with green beans. Lighter, refreshing plates include duck with watermelon and cashew nuts, and a miso aubergine, noodle & cucumber salad, with Szechuan chilli prawns for spice lovers. Sides of rice, vegetables and noodles help complete the meal, while the signature toffee banana fritter offers a sweet finish. Delivery is available within a one-mile radius.
The drinks programme spans Asian-inspired cocktails (such as lychee martinis) Japanese whiskies, sake, on-tap beers, wines, mocktails, teas and fresh juices.
Located in a vibrant village-style neighbourhood with independent shops, cafés, and leafy residential streets, HUO Belsize Park is a stylish local destination for modern Asian dining, casual cocktails, group celebrations, or intimate evenings out.
