About

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Peckham, South East London, Hausu is a distinctive restaurant and bar that seamlessly blends culinary innovation with a rich musical ambience. Located at 11a Station Way, directly adjacent to Peckham Rye Station, it offers both locals and visitors an inviting retreat where gastronomy and sound converge.

The brainchild of siblings Tom and Holly, along with their close associate Chris, Hausu draws inspiration from a 1970s Japanese cult classic film, infusing its space with a laid-back, mid-century aesthetic. The interior features soft green banquettes, herringbone floors, and retro lighting that casts a warm glow over panelled walls, creating an atmosphere that is both stylish and welcoming.

At the helm of the kitchen is Holly, whose culinary journey includes esteemed establishments such as The Camberwell Arms and The Waterman Arms. Her expertise shines through a seasonally evolving menu that artfully marries European and Asian influences. Signature dishes include the scallop and prawn toast, adorned with black sesame seeds and paired with a gochujang ketchup, and the squid ink noodles accompanied by agretti and white crab, offering a delightful fusion of flavours and textures. Another standout is 'Dad’s Broth,' a fragrant chicken soup infused with coriander, served alongside a chicken skewer, reflecting the personal culinary heritage of the founders.

Complementing the food is an impressive selection of fine wines and expertly crafted cocktails. Tom oversees the bar, curating drinks such as bergamot negronis and coconut daiquiris, while the wine list, assembled by sommelier Rose, emphasises female producers and offers a diverse range of options to suit various palates.

Music plays a pivotal role at Hausu, with Chris curating an eclectic mix that resonates through a vintage hi-fidelity sound system. This dedication to auditory excellence enhances the dining experience, fostering a convivial environment where guests can unwind and socialise.

The restaurant remains closed on Sundays and Mondays. Whether you're seeking a casual drink in the bar area or a full dining experience, Hausu stands as a testament to Peckham's dynamic and creative spirit, offering a harmonious blend of taste and sound that is both unique and memorable.
