For a restaurant experience that feels a little different from the usual Edinburgh steakhouse, Fogo de Chão brings the centuries-old Brazilian tradition of churrasco to historic George Street. Just moments from Princes Street and surrounded by some of the capital's most recognisable landmarks, it's a destination where the meal is only half the fun.
At the heart of the restaurant is the rodizio-style Churrasco Experience. Rather than choosing a single main course, guests enjoy continuous tableside service from skilled gaúchos, who carve freshly grilled cuts of meat directly onto the plate. Prime beef takes centre stage, including the restaurant's signature Picanha, alongside fillet, ribeye, lamb, pork and chicken. Each cut is expertly butchered, simply seasoned and cooked over fire.
The experience is complemented by the extensive Market Table, featuring seasonal salads, fresh vegetables, cured meats, continental cheeses and antipasti. Alongside it sits Feijoada, Brazil's traditional black bean stew served with rice, as well as a variety of sides and fries that guests can return to throughout the meal.
Those looking to begin with something indulgent can opt for the Jumbo Prawn Cocktail or go all out with the Seafood Tower, loaded with lobster tail, king prawns, snow crab, scallops and Baerii caviar. Beyond the churrasco menu, there's larger sharing dishes such as the 21-day dry-aged Tomahawk steak and Australian Wagyu New York Strip.
There are also options beyond the grill, including Lobster Moqueca, a fragrant tomato and coconut seafood stew, Yellowfin Tuna Steak and black truffle and wild mushroom risotto. Sides such as Lobster Mac and Cheese and Fugazzeta, a cheese-topped charcoal dough flatbread, add further opportunities to indulge.
Finally, the drinks list continues the South American influence. Cocktails include the Brazilian Sundown, blending cachaça with passion fruit, peach and pineapple, while the smoky Spicy Affair offers something a little punchier. Non-drinkers are equally well catered for with options such as the Passion Reloaded and Yerbatini.
