Chef Jack Ellingham, restauranter Jay Patel, and WatchHouse founder Roland Horne combine expertise to invite diners to Five Feet in Bermondsey, a pizzeria perfecting the pizza pie.
Patel has an impressive collection of accolades for his work in restaurants including Barrafina, and is also the co-founder of Legare in Tower Bridge, which was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Horne, founder of the stylish WatchHouse coffeeshops, brings his experience creating London favourites to make Five Feet a reliable neighbourhood go-to.
Ellingham has long-ago perfected his craft at popular bakeries and restaurants, including the famous Dusty Knuckle in North London. At Five Feet, his knowledge has guided him to inspired pan-pizzas, crafting fluffy thick dough baked in cast-iron pans and creatively topped with seasonal, independent produce. He is serious about good dough - Five Feet highlights his thoughtful consideration to the pizza-making science, delivered with a playful and creative menu. Particular attention is paid to the flour, with the team’s original idea of installing a French mill to craft a unique flour blend.
Five Feet focuses on serving comforting and hearty delicate pan pizzas. The pizza menu includes a hot sausage pie: vodka sauce, fennel sausage, pecorino, house pickled chillies, and calabrian chilli honey. Vegetarian options include white potato pie: white sauce, potatoes, green onions, caramelised onions, fior di latte, scamorza, and aged cheddar. Vegan pizzas are also available, and all dishes can be accompanied by an exciting selection of crust dippers.
Bermondsey is home to a rich industrial heritage, which serves as the inspiration for Five Feet’s interior. Smart and modern interior is brought by Studio Deidra Hodgson, famous for inviting London into coffeeshops including Allpress and WatchHouse.
