Crisp Pizza at The Marlborough sees Crisp founder Carl McCluskey bring his beloved pizzas to central London for the first time, with the help of Devonshire founders Charlie Carroll, Ashley Palmer-Watts and Oisín Rogers.
Few restaurants have hit the hype levels of Crisp Pizza in recent years. McClusky’s thin-crust, New York-style pizzas kicked off a pizza revolution in London, and the only negative you could possibly throw at them was how difficult they were to get a hold of, between a busy booking system and the need to travel to Hammersmith. Well, now you can get your Crisp Pizza in central London, as McClusky brings Crisp to The Marlborough on Mayfair’s North Audley Street.
The Marlborough is split over two floors. Downstairs you’ll find a dedicated pizzeria, with seating for 52 guests and an al fresco terrace for another 50. Those who found Crisp’s pizzas somewhat hard to get hold of at The Chancellors will have no such problems here: where Crisp’s old ovens could push out around 50 pizzas an hour, The Marlborough’s purpose-built kitchen pumps out 150 pies in the same amount of time.
Like The Devonshire, The Marlborough keeps the restaurant and pub elements relatively separate - head upstairs and you’ll find a more traditional wet-led pub, complete with lagers, ales, and plenty of Guinness - in fact, The Marlborough replicates the exact same system for pouring Guinness as The Devonshire.
The menu remains largely the same as it was at The Chancellors, with classic Crisp Pizza pies like the Cheese Pie, Pepperoni Pie, and the Tie Dye (tomato sauce, spicy tequila sauce, fior di latte and pesto) all making the trip to Mayfair.
