Following the success of its two existing restaurants in Notting Hill and Hoxton, the folk behind roast chicken restaurant Cocotte have opened a third, this time in Parsons Green. Located on the site once occupied by Modern European restaurant Boma Green, this new branch of Cocotte plans to serve up more of the same succulent roast chicken and accompanying salads that’s made it such a popular dining destination elsewhere in the capital.
Interiors are pleasingly neutral, having been designed in earthy colours for a relaxing feel. Plenty of natural materials and lush, green foliage add to the ambiance, and create the ideal backdrop for any occasion.
Cocotte only uses high-welfare French chickens that have lived outdoors, so those conscious about animal wellbeing can indulge without any guilt. That said, there’s plenty on the menu that’s made without meat at all, from inventive salads involving ingredients such as roasted turmeric cauliflower with cranberries and apricots, or roasted walnuts with wholegrain mustard dressing, though rotisserie chicken is undoubtedly the star of the show at Cocotte.
Chicken is sold whole, in halves and in quarters, so diners simply need to choose a size and a sauce, such as chicken jus or garlic mayo, and add a side – perhaps tenderstem broccoli or something carby like baby roast potatoes or truffle mac and cheese. Cocotte Parsons Green will also open for brunch, so guests can indulge in the likes of chicken and croissant waffles, or roasted courgette and mushroom tartine.
When it comes to drinks, diners will be greeted with a great range of beverages. There are spritzes, cocktails, beers, ciders, spirits and a good selection of French wines, making it an easy choice for a post-work drink and snack (though once the aromas from the kitchen hit your nose, we’re betting you’ll decide to stay for dinner).
