Tucked away on the outskirts of Welwyn Garden City, Brocket Hall Estate offers a varied selection of dining experiences, with a rather striking setting to match. One of England's finest stately homes, here you’ll find sprawling grounds, Grade-I listed accommodation and two championship golf courses, with Modern British menus and a lakeside restaurant. Brocket Hall’s flagship, Auberge du Lac, is currently under renovation and will relaunch later this year.
Guests can enjoy a variety of different menus. Those popping in for brunch can enjoy a multi-course occasion with sharing stands of pastries and breads, followed by avocado and kimchi on sourdough, mushroom and cheddar tartlets, and granola pots. Each guests can order their own main course, with sweet and savoury options spanning shakshuka with shallots and a coriander dressing, eggs royal topped with a rich hollandaise and caviar, or waffles topped with caramelised banana in butterscotch sauce and a raspberry compote.
The lunch menu leans into seasonal dishes such as duck arancini, halibut or Norfolk chicken, followed by desserts like lemon meringue tart. Afternoon tea offers a tiered selection of sandwiches and savoury bites, alongside homemade scones with cream and jam and a range of cakes and sweet treats, served with tea or coffee.
Sundays focus on traditional roasts, with a choice of beef, lamb, chicken or sweet potato Wellington, alongside alternative dishes such as halibut, followed by desserts including peach cobbler or caramelised apple tarte tatin. Drinks include a curated wine list, alongside beer, cocktails, spirits, mocktails, soft drinks and hot drinks.
Brocket Hall also offers a rather traditional afternoon tea, starting with smoked salmon and cream cheese, or roast beef and horseradish sandwiches. Next, comes freshly baked fruit scones with clotted cream and jam, finishing with a selection of cakes and sweet treats. Tuck into choux buns with candied rose petal and rose diplomat cream, and strawberry and vanilla roulade with fresh berry compote and chantilly cream.
