About

Brasserie Olivia is a French brasserie in Chelsea, London, celebrating seasonal ingredients, traditional techniques and the enduring appeal of classic French cooking. Open from breakfast through to dinner, it caters for everything from family meals and leisurely lunches to date nights and celebrations, with an emphasis on carefully sourced produce and dishes made from scratch.

Part of the Nouvelle Garde collection, the restaurant champions farm-to-table cooking, working closely with local suppliers and market gardeners. Vegetables are sourced seasonally, ingredients are treated with care, and a low-waste approach runs throughout the kitchen.

Inside, Brasserie Olivia takes inspiration from the grand brasseries of Paris, pairing dark wood panelling with rich amber lighting, patterned flooring and brass detailing. Statement chandeliers and statement ceiling features draw the eye upwards, while mustard-toned banquette seating adds warmth throughout the dining room. Countertop seating overlooks the open kitchen and wood-fired grill, creating a sense of theatre, while walls lined with bottles and a striking seafood counter add to the bustling atmosphere. Downstairs, Venus Bar offers a contrasting experience, with candlelit tables, dark wood interiors, vintage records and music-inspired decor creating a moody, speakeasy-style setting.

Brasserie Olivia menus celebrate French brasserie traditions. A dedicated seafood counter features oysters, langoustines and other fresh shellfish, while lobsters are selected directly from the restaurant’s lobster tank. Breakfast ranges from flaky croissants and pastries to more substantial dishes such as galette, complete with egg gribiche sandwiches.

Throughout the day, guests can expect expertly executed French classics cooked over fire where appropriate, with seasonal ingredients taking centre stage. The drinks offering centres on a carefully curated wine list, with a particular focus on French bottles selected to complement the menu. Guests can also choose from a range of classic cocktails, premium spirits, beers and soft drinks, while coffees and teas are available throughout the day.

Brasserie Olivia

Last night’s dinner at Brasserie Olivia, 1 Sloane Square was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long time.

The starters were, for the most part, below average. The only dishes worth eating were the devilled eggs and the foie gras. Everything else was poorly executed and lacked both flavour and quality.

The main courses were even worse. The pork chops were so excessively fatty that they were almost impossible to chew, and the meat itself was bland and completely devoid of flavour. For a restaurant that positions itself as a premium dining destination, this was simply unacceptable.

What made the experience even more disappointing was the service. The staff came across as impolite, inattentive, and far from welcoming. Hospitality is just as important as good food, and sadly this restaurant failed on both counts.

To add insult to injury, the bill was extremely high. Paying a premium price should come with premium food and service—neither was delivered.

I left feeling thoroughly disappointed and would certainly not return or recommend Brasserie Olivia to anyone. There are far better restaurants in London that deserve your time and mone
