The Charlotte Street branch of Raymond Blanc’s user-friendly brasserie chain looks and feels like a slice of old Fitzrovia with its rows of bistro-style tables, curios, wine cabinets and walls emblazoned with photos, prints and literary quotes. To start, share a ‘plateau varié’ (deli board) or go for a salad of Jervaulx blue cheese with apple and chicory, before sampling steak-frites, Toulouse sausages with mash and onion gravy or grilled scallops with truffle mash and braised fennel. For afters, why not order Valrhona chocolate crumble or go for poached pear with butterscotch sauce. Various kids’ deals and Gallic regional wines direct from the producer are further reasons to be impressed. There are also some alfresco tables on the pavement.
