Gin advent calendars: The best ones to get you in the Christmas spirit

It’s that time of year again; time to start thinking about what advent calendar you will be indulging in to help your build up to Christmas. With so many different variations now on the market, this decision could be one of the hardest you make all season and you definitely don’t want to get it wrong. This is serious stuff.

Now, you could go for the classic and simple Dairy Milk chocolate advent calendar, but to be honest this option feels a little childish and boring in a world full of varied and exciting calendars. You could also opt for one filled with cosmetics and other luxurious goodies, but they can sometimes cost more than you were planning to spend all Christmas. So how about you go for something in the middle and get yourself a gin advent calendar (yes they exist) instead? We aren’t of course suggesting that you down a bottle of this popular spirit before you head off to work, but wouldn’t it be nice to have it to look forward to when you come home after a long day?

You’d be surprised how many options there are out there, so we’ve put together a list of the best gin advent calendars so you can weigh up the pros and cons of each one before you decide.

Fever Tree Gin & Tonic Advent Calendar

What it includes: 12 x 50ml bottles of craft gin and 12 x 50ml cans of tonic
Why:
Featuring a small bottle of every major craft and premium gin in the UK including the likes of Sipsmith and Hendricks. Each bottle of gin is expertly paired with one of fever trees light tonics or ginger ale. This calendar guarantees quality gin and tonics every time. By our count that means at least 12 G&Ts before Christmas from the calendar alone, and we can’t think of anything better to be honest.
How much: £60

The Pip Stop Gin Advent Calendar

What it includes: 24 x 50ml bottles of gin
Why:
Although it may be shaped like a cracker, don’t be fooled as this contains a lot more than a bad joke and a paper hat. Behind each door you’ll get a gin for every day. As mentioned earlier, if you open your calendar doors in the morning, we don’t suggest drinking each one before you head out the house (although equally, we're not here to judge...). If you manage to resist, why not save a few and then have your mates over for festive G&Ts instead?
