About

Bacchus is a stylish all-day restaurant in Cardiff that has Welsh heritage at the heart of its concept. The word 'Bacchus' is named after an ancient South Eastern Welsh tribe which was incited by King Caratacus in AD 48 to protect the town from the Romans. Now, this chic dining experience proudly serves the people of Cardiff with a menu inspired by a breadth of European influences in homage to the past. 

As mentioned, the menu offers relaxed all-day dining, and there are special dishes on at weekends. The chefs are committed to being part of the local community and love working with nearby suppliers, as well as farms and growers across the UK whenever possible, championing sustainability and ethical practices. 

You’ll see an example of this on the starters list with a plate of grilled Wye Valley asparagus with Welsh black truffle and hollandaise, as well as Dorset crab risotto with gochujang butter and wild garlic. For mains, stand-out dishes include a half or whole thermidor lobster with truffle and Spenwood fries; as well as Cornish day boat fish with lobster bisque, sea vegetables and herbs; and a potato dauphinoise, cheddar and spring onion pie with garden peas and wild garlic.

Desserts offer a varied range of treats, from a rice pudding with rhubarb compote and homemade honeycomb, to a zingy lemon tart with creme fraiche. We also like the sound of the selection of Welsh cheeses, chutney and oat crackers. 

The bar is an important part of the space, buzzing with people all day enjoying the unique cocktails, draft beers and bar snacks. Some of the bartender's favourites include the Hemmingway Daiquiri with Chairman's Reserve Rum Original, maraschino liqueur, grapefruit juice and lime, as well as the Naked and Famous with Illegal Joven Mezcal, Aperol, yellow chartreuse and lime.

Byron Moussouris

Executive Head Chef

Byron Moussouris, Executive Head Chef at Silures, joins the team after years of experience in the industry. Born in South Africa, he was classically trained in some of the top restaurants and hotels in Cape Town, and since moving to London has continued to work at major venues across the city. Chef Byron boasts five years at luxury hotel The Bloomsbury and four years at The Marylebone as Head Chef, before moving on to Silures.

Praise for new restaurant
Excellent Meal last Sunday! Atmosphere slightly spoilt by screaming toddler! Difficult situation for staff. Once toddler left staff couldn't have been more helpful and every detail of the meal was perfect and will be going back if only for the creme brûlée topped with berries!
