130 Primrose is a Primrose Hill restaurant with a social mission at its core, combining confident, approachable cooking with a commitment to creating pathways into hospitality for people with experience of homelessness. Set on Regent’s Park Road, the restaurant is the latest chapter from the team behind Home Kitchen Diner and operates as part of a registered charity focused on long-term employment and training.
The kitchen is overseen by celebrated chef and broadcaster Monica Galetti, who brings her expertise to a relaxed, brasserie-style menu designed to be both appealing and accessible. Dishes draw on Mediterranean flavours, with a seasonal à la carte offering that evolves throughout the day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served, with lighter sandwich and salad options at lunchtime and an expanded charcuterie and cheese selection in the evenings. British seasonal ingredients are front and centre, with subtle creative twists reflecting Galetti’s influence.
The 50-cover dining room is welcoming and understated, with additional street-side seating adding to the neighbourhood feel. A speakeasy-style cocktail bar on the lower ground floor provides a more intimate setting, serving drinks alongside the main food offering upstairs.
Behind the scenes, 130 Primrose operates as a training ground for future hospitality professionals. Team members are employed on paid, fixed-term contracts across front-of-house and kitchen roles, receiving accredited training and qualifications during their time at the restaurant. The kitchen is led day-to-day by Head Chef Eric Zhang, with Galetti guiding the wider culinary direction.
The restaurant takes its name from prima rosa, a Latin phrase symbolising renewal and new beginnings - a reflection of its wider ambition. By combining thoughtful cooking with meaningful employment, 130 Primrose aims to offer guests a good meal while quietly contributing to lasting change within the hospitality industry.
