SquareMeal Review of St. Bart's Brewery

From the team behind The Hide at The Bull, this self-proclaimed ‘all-day British diner and craft beer pub’ also struts its stuff as a live music venue complete with a stage and dance floor. Inside it’s a mix of city-rustic with arty trimmings and touches of postmodern industrial chic, while the menu runs from breakfast classics to Smithfield grills, burgers and sharing platters by way of devilled chicken wings, roast scallops with cauliflower purée and caramelised pineapple or sea bass with grilled fennel and sweetcorn salsa. Real ales rub shoulders with world beers, but the star turn is unpasteurised Meantime London lager served direct from specially engineered stainless steel tanks. The upstairs Balfour Bar is dedicated to English booze – from cocktails and craft spirits to wines, fizz and ciders from the owners’ Hush Heath Estate in Kent – try the sparkling Balfour Brut Rosé.
