The Zetter Townhouse is a characterful boutique hotel in the heart of Clerkenwell, known for its colourful interiors and fascinating history. Set on a charming square close to Farringdon station, the Georgian townhouse was originally the home of Wilhelmina Zetter and her affluent family, who owned a factory in the area.
When Wilhelmina inherited her family's fortune she chose, instead of settling down, to travel the world and on her adventures collected treasures which she decorated the house with on her return. While in town, she hosted lavish, all-night soirees and showed off the artworks, furniture and decorations from other countries, many of which still stud the walls of the townhouse today.
Today, the venue is a homage to Wilhelmina's wanderlust and flamboyant taste with eccentric decor spanning a taxidermy kangaroo donning a pair of boxing gloves to ornately handpainted walls. As well as the lobby and hotel, the townhouse boasts two private dining spaces which are perfect for hosting a big birthday, brand event, corporate dinner or overdue get-together.
The Games Room has capacity for 23 when dining on one central table, 36 for a sit-down dinner across multiple tables or 50 for a standing drinks reception. The blue and cream colour scheme and period flourishes create a pretty, historic aesthetic which works beautifully for a wedding, baby shower or all night party with plenty of room for mixing with guests.
If an intimate dinner is what you had in mind, The Drawing Room offers a dramatic, atmospheric backdrop for one hell of a dinner party. With rich, crimson walls and soft, glowy lighting, this room brings a sense of theatre to any occasion. The regency-style dining table comes straight from Wilhelmina's own collection and can comfortably sit 12 people around it, or the room can hold 24 people when standing.
