The Idler is the in-house restaurant at The July hotel in London’s Victoria, where both overnight guests and visitors are welcome to host parties and corporate events in three private dining spaces, with capacity for 100 people.
Set within The July hotel on Vauxhall Bridge Road, The Idler is designed for gatherings that feel relaxed in spirit but still design-led. Its Victoria location makes it especially easy to get to for client lunches, team dinners and informal celebrations, while the restaurant’s contemporary vibe keeps things more characterful than a standard hotel function room.
There are several spaces depending on the size and style of the event. Loaf, Laze and Linger each accommodate up to eight boardroom-style or 12 theatre-style, while Laze and Linger can be combined for 16 boardroom-style, 24 theatre-style or 45 cocktail-style guests. The wider breakout configuration can host up to 60 for drinks and gatherings.
Catering is provided in-house. For smaller private dinners, the feasting menu serves up to 15 guests and includes three a la carte courses, with dishes such as fresh handmade linguine with Jerusalem artichoke and autumn truffle, pan-fried sea bream with roasted fennel and quince beurre blanc, or Lake District bavette with celeriac remoulade and Madeira jus. Dessert options include panna cotta, Neal’s Yard cheeses or sorbet.
Larger groups can opt for family-style dining for 15 to 60 guests, beginning with shared starters such as sourdough with whipped cep butter, fresh anchovies and leek and cheddar arancini, before mains including guinea fowl, handmade linguine or sea bream. For events designed for mingling and socialising, canapes and bites are available for up to 100 guests. Drink packages, which range from wine, beer and cava to cocktails, Champagne upgrades and alcohol-free options, make it easy to keep everyone watered.
