About

Where better to host a private dinner in Spitalfields than one of London’s favourite Thai restaurants? Private dining at Som Saa caters to a wide range of occasions, from relaxed group celebrations to more formal seated dinners, complete with fragrant dishes alongside elegant cocktails and spice-friendly bottles.

Set within a former fabric warehouse, Som Saa can accommodate up to 30-person private dinners in a space that pairs exposed brickwork and high ceilings with warm lighting and simple wooden tables, creating a setting that feels characterful but with a homey, unfussy edge. It suits both corporate bookings and social gatherings without feeling overly formal.

Som Saa began life as a pop-up before opening its permanent site in Spitalfields in 2016, building a strong reputation for regional Thai cooking that focuses on bold, balanced flavours. This experience translates clearly into the private dining offering, which centres on sharing menus designed for the whole table.

Som Saa’s private dining menus feature a sequence of dishes served family-style, encouraging a sociable pace for the meal. Guests can expect combinations such as green mango and prawn salad with lemongrass and herbs, rich Penang curry of salted beef cheeks with peanuts and Thai basil, and stir-fried seasonal greens with Asian mushrooms. Rice is served alongside, with both jasmine and sticky rice available to accompany the meal.

For groups looking to elevate the experience, say for a birthday or important team or client dinner, additional dishes like whole deep-fried seabass with Isaan herbs can be included. As for desserts, you might find options such as salted palm sugar ice cream paired with turmeric grilled banana.

The drinks menu, meanwhile, includes a range of interesting Thai-style cocktails, from a Green Negroni with pandan-infused gin to the Siam Sling, which features Thai basil, sencha rose tea and makrut lime leaf. There’s a very good range of alcohol free cocktails too, alongside wines that match beautifully with the aromatic notes on the menu.

Loved the placeJUNE, 2026

Visited as a 8 person group for dinner. We pre-arranged to have the set menu with 3 of us choosing the vegan set menu and the rest choosing the regular set menu. We had suggestions on drinks and included exotic drinks like green negroni, Bambat potion, Rak tong ham.The food was delicious and very new - I never had mango and lemongrass in a salad or lotus roots in gravy. Very unique and tasty. Beware of the red chilli though- I took a small bite and felt okay and then bit into the rest and then lost all sense of taste for some time. Most of our group said they will be back with a partner or family or friends. Loved the place.

Had a lovely dinnerJANUARY, 2026

Had a lovely girl dinner at Som Saa last week. Our waitress Lily rocked!! She was especially great at understanding our individual drinks tastes - Som Saa have an extensive range of thai cocktails for any adventurous souls to try ;)Standout dishes: vegan tofu curry and the deep fried Seabass - such a good sharer between 3-4 people- fried Chicken skin so naughty and moreish. Two of the girls commented that the chicken skewer was delicious too.Deffo recommend for large group dinners; the space is expansive yet feels so warm and relatively homey - not like a lot of these large restaurants that have a copy and paste industrial decor/feel. Sidenote: A feature that is often overlooked at restaurant is cost and bag hooks; this a prominent feature a Som Saa! Very very thankful not have to cram my bag on the floor and coat on the chair.Set menu prices are fair and there's a wonderful vegan menu available - recently it feels like a lot of restaurants have been cutting back on vegan mains and substituting with a few vegetable sides - a true lifesaver as I usually dine with one or 2 non-meat eaters. 5 of us spent just under £60pp across 6 large/small dishes, 4 rice sides and 2 alcoholic drinks pp, so if you go alcohol-free, this definitely would be a steal! Will definitely be raving about this to friends & family. Thank you to the two other waiters that also attended our table!
