It's true, London is full of beautiful restaurants with private dining options, but whether you're looking for a special place for a personal milestone, birthday party, brand event or even a wedding breakfast, there's one place that is sure to pique your interest: L'oscar. L'oscar is a boutique hotel and restaurant which can be found just moments from Holborn station and a short walk from the Covent Garden piazza, close to the West End.
Set within a Baroque-style, Grade II listed former church, it seems that nothing is too flamboyant for this venue with interiors boasting peacock-painted walls, golden-gilded panels and an illuminated onyx bar. Truly, for interior design magpies, it's like arriving at Willy Wonker's Chocolate Factory. Aside from the stunning central restaurant, you'll also find two beautiful private dining options.
Now, if a sit-down dinner is what you had in mind, we'd recommend The Committee Room which has a long, banqueting table as its centrepiece. In this space, you'll be delighted to find walls painted in peacock blue, accentuated by hand-painted illustrations of the birds themselves. A huge, authentic fireplace with 3D stone carvings is certainly a talking point, as is the rich, wooden wall panelling which dates back to the Arts and Crafts period. This room can cater for 26 people for dinner and 40 for drinks and canapes, so while it's perfect for a special supper, it will happily work for any occasion.
If you were imagining a slightly larger affair, let us introduce you to The Library. Here, you'll find the same vaulted ceilings with detailed plasterwork, richly-toned walls and peacock motifs, but in a bigger, more open space. Instead of a central table, sumptuous, velvet cocktail chairs are dotted around which seem to transport you back in time to a Parisian boudoir in the 1800s. Which makes sense, when you consider that L'oscar is inspired by Parisian glamour. Here, 80 people are invited to enjoy drinks, or 40 for a sit down meal.
