Set in the beating heart of the West End, Gaucho Covent Garden offers a fantastic setting for group dining, whether it’s pre-theatre or just because. You’ll find it within an extension of the Royal Opera House, serving up 100% Argentinian steaks reared in the Pampas region on a multitude of native grass varieties. That said, if you don’t fancy beef, that’s not a problem; group dinners at Gaucho Covent Garden can cater to all tastes and requirements.
Inside, the interiors channel the spirit of modern Argentina, referencing both the late-night bar culture and the country’s vast, rugged landscapes. Think glowing amber lighting, rich printed textiles, and comfortable seating all round. Depending on the size of your group, seating includes a snug circular booth at the rear, banquette booths, and long tables.
As for the food, steak is the main sell on the Gaucho Covent Garden menu, all of which is sourced from Aberdeen Angus herds. Menus include the Signature group menu, featuring all of the restaurant’s most popular dishes in a set menu format, starting with the likes of Argentine prawn cocktail and beef and olive empanadas, moving through to steaks served with chips and peppercorn sauce, and desserts like the signature dulce de leche cheesecake. There’s also a more affordably priced classic menu, which is just as good, plus a sharing menu suited to more casual group dining occasions.
Here, dishes are served to share with the whole table, including starters such as salmon tartare tacos with mango salsa and avocado, pumpkin ravioli, and a range of empanadas with fillings like beef and olive, ham and cheese, and humita. For the main course, you’ll be picking up slivers of spiral-cut ribeye with chimichurri, lean rum steak, and sirloin with crackling, all matched with chips, mac and cheese, and green salads.
