Celebrated as one of London’s most unique hotels, The Mandrake has been described by guests as ‘decorative and arty’, ‘one of a kind’ and ‘otherworldly’. Occupying an unassuming former Victorian office block in the heart of vibrant Fitzrovia, this boutique hotel fuses nature with a bohemian-gothic style, resulting in an eccentric, but thoroughly luxurious aesthetic. Featuring 34 rooms, including three suites and a penthouse with a bathroom to die for, Amazonian-inspired restaurant YOPO, an indoor bar, an award-winning terrace bar and a private dining, The Mandrake offers a tranquil oasis for guests to relax and dine.
Situated off bustling Oxford Street and just a short walk from Soho and the West End, The Mandrake is well-positioned for events of all kinds. From launches to board meetings, investor dinners, and private celebrations, the friendly staff will help find a space that’s suitable for your event.
Plush seating, an abundance of plants, and a collection of original artworks are all brought together by the spectacular ceiling mural created by artist Peter John de Villers within The Mandrake’s restaurant, YOPO. A bright space, featuring exposed brickwork and plenty of natural light, YOPO can seat up to 58 for private sit-down meals. Alternatively, the space can be used for standing receptions of up to 120.
The food, devised to showcase a combination of classical cooking techniques alongside experimental ingredients, is modern European with influences from South America. The menu is seasonal, but dishes you might find include scallop ceviche, potato churros and charcoal grilled octopus.

Named for a hallucinogenic vine found in the Amazon, the mind-bendingly exotic Waeska bar is a unique space in which to host a private event. With room for 35 standing guests (15 seated), the sleek yet comfortable bar features retractable glass doors opening onto a private palace-style courtyard, and a collection of objects d’art. Restorative plant-based sips concocted from rare and unusual brands are created by the expert team of mixologists from a menu founded on ethnobotany (the study of a region’s plants and their practical uses through the traditional knowledge of local cultures).
