Little Fires Mezcal Bar & Hi-Fi Lounge offers a cool and trendy venue hire space in the heart of East London. The story behind this independent restaurant, cocktail bar and listening lounge starts with Head Chef Rodolfo Castellanos, former winner of Top Chef México and the creative force behind this operation. His connections to Oaxacan recipes and fire-based cooking inspired much of the venue's concept and have delivered a delicious menu highlighting plantain molotes, tacos, ceviche and sharing plates.
The space is split into two: above, the restaurant serves up Castellanos' menu and an inspired cocktail menu in collaboration with Sabina Sabe, Oaxaca’s acclaimed cocktail institution, focusing on drinks with a base of mezcal and tequila. But downstairs, the intimate listening lounge offers a totally different vibe with an atmospheric, late-night feel.
Venue hire bookings can opt for just the subterranean floor or takeover the whole place, depending on your party size. For up to 60 people, the Listening Lounge is a fabulous option. Set across three rooms, features include a strikingly-retro wooden DJ booth, Technics turntables, a rotary mixer and a dedicated bar. Here, you can drink, hang out, listen to music - whatever you like. The decor is a highlight, too, with burnt orange walls, patterned tiles underfoot and low seating which brings an ultra-relaxed feel.
For larger celebrations, take over both floors with a capacity of 100 people, and you can have the restaurant and downstairs bar. The combination gives you a little of everything: upstairs is bright and open, downstairs cosy and intimate. What's great about having the entire place to yourself is that you'll also get use of the outside terrace - while this won't be able to fit 100 people, it is handy especially in the summer months or helpful for those smoking.
