Occupying an elegant Georgian building dating back to 1715, Hotel du Vin Winchester draws on the town-houses of Paris for inspiration on interiors. Amid the trompe l’oeil wall decorations, gilded light fittings and antique furniture, there are 24 plushly appointed bedrooms and one event space, which was revamped in 2014. Ruinart can hold up to 70 guests for drinks or 48 for a private dinner. This naturally-lit room looks onto the walled garden, which can also be hired out for drinks receptions during the summer months. Here, guests can seek out the champagne terrace or the quirky wooden bothy surrounded by English garden flowers.
