The Fry Suite is the largest space, accommodating up to 240 guests standing or 100 for banqueting, making it ideal for conferences, gala dinners and large celebrations. For events with character and charm, Hornton Grange is a beautifully restored 1920s building featuring period details, landscaped gardens and an airy skylight extension. Within Hornton Grange, the Lloyd Suite can host exclusive celebrations of up to 150 guests and benefits from a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere with added privacy.

Additional spaces include the Writers’ Suite, Lloyd Suite and Pevsner, all designed for meetings, presentations and hybrid events, while the Composers’ Suite offers a more intimate setting for up to 80 guests. Each room is equipped with modern audio-visual technology, Wi-Fi and flexible layouts, allowing events to be tailored to individual requirements.

The suite’s rooms celebrate creativity and provide the sanctuary that every great mind needs to be at its very best. There’s the Corelli, Lodge and MacNeice, all named after writers with connections to University of Birmingham: 20th century poet Louis MacNeice; David Lodge CBE, English novelist and critic; and prolific Victorian novelist Marie Corelli. Plush bedrooms await just moments away too, where your delegates can enjoy a great night’s sleep. The Fry Suite is named after celebrated prison reformer, Margery Fry, who worked at University of Birmingham as Warden of University House – the new women’s residence – in 1904. Set apart from the main hotel building in our beautiful 1920s Hornton Grange, the suite has been designed to give you extra event privacy. As well as benefiting from the suite’s relaxed and airy atmosphere, you’ll also have exclusive use of the ground floor of Hornton Grange. This includes a private lounge, ideal for breakout sessions and networking. You can also enjoy the Grange’s gardens and patio areas, which are ideal for team-building activities and informal conference barbeques. The suite takes its name from University of Birmingham’s own Dame Hilda Lloyd, Professor of Obstetrics, whose pioneering midwife ‘flying squads’ saved many lives in the 1930s. The suite’s rooms are named after University of Birmingham’s first Professor of Music, Edward Elgar, and Granville Bantock, Elgar’s successor.
