For a venue with a difference, Comptoir Bakery School is a beautifully designed bakery and pastry-making space, hidden away in a historic railway arch in Bermondsey. It’s run by a family-run bakery, and the aim is for it to feel less like a traditional venue and more like an extension of the family’s own home. It has capacity for up to 150 people across the main space and mezzanine, and is a brilliant option for events with activities and entertainment built in.
Whether you’re simply in need of a chic, contemporary space to bring people together or you’re picturing an event with an immersive vibe, the Comptoir Bakery School has got it covered. It also works for brand activations, filming and creative productions. Positioned just moments from London Bridge, it’s easy to reach for guests coming from across London and beyond.
This part of London is known for its industrial history and at Arch 96, it’s truly celebrated. Inside, exposed brick is given a stylish swipe of white-washed paint and updated with Scandinavian-aesthetic shelving and furniture, accessorised with plants, wood panelling and checkerboard tiling. Lofty and spacious, the ground floor works wonderfully for anything from milestone birthdays and engagement parties to your own supper club, brand launch or corporate get-together.
Capacity is flexible with access across the main space, bakery school and mezzanine, catering for up to 50 guests for a seated dinner, 150 guests for a standing reception, or 120 for a mixed-format event, where you might start with nibbles and drinks before moving on to a sit-down meal. For team-building days and client experiences, chef-led baking workshops can be tailored to your team or brand, with space for up to 40 participants - 24 on the ground floor and 16 on the mezzanine.
With an event hosted within a cookery school, it’s no big surprise that all catering is provided in-house, and there’s a bar and café on site. The team are happy to organise welcome drinks for your guests, followed by bar packages, premium canapés and buffet selections, seasonal sharing menus, bespoke chef-designed menus, and even celebration cakes. Whatever you want, the Comptoir Bakery School can make it happen.
The main floor and toilets are wheelchair accessible, although the mezzanine isn’t, and pets are welcome. Evenings must wrap up by midnight, with the bar licence stretching until 11pm. And, what’s more, throughout your night, you may hear the occasional train toot, which makes the whole experience all the more authentic.
