For a Christmas party with real spectacle, London Transport Museum in Covent Garden is one of the capital's more unexpected festive venues, offering two unique event spaces for private hire. Finding its home in London’s original flower market, this impressive venue invites guests to discover London's transport history via red Routemaster buses, vintage Tube carriages and historic trams doubling as the backdrop for dinner.
The Museum Galleries offer an immersive space for large-scale events, taking over both floors of the exhibition beneath a soaring glass roof. Guests can wander among the collection before dinner, including a hands-on driving simulator in the Future Engineers gallery, before settling in among the vehicles for a seated dinner or standing reception. The space holds up to 230 for dinner or 600 standing, while catering comes from a shortlist of approved suppliers who are well-versed at hosting slick events at scale.
For smaller festive gatherings, the Cubic Theatre and its adjoining Foyer sit below the Piazza's cobbles and work well for a more contained office party or team celebration. Combined, the two spaces hold up to 80 guests; the Foyer alone seats 40 cabaret-style or 23 boardroom-style, or takes 80 standing for drinks. Benugo caters exclusively here, with seasonal menus built to order, and both daytime and evening slots available for a festive celebration.
Every hire comes with staffing, standard AV and Wi-Fi built in, along with complimentary access to the museum galleries for guests during any breaks. There's scope to build the night out further too: costumed actors can bring the collection to life for guests wandering between courses, and the museum's in-house team can arrange enhanced lighting or floristry through their approved suppliers. Finally, eattendees also get a discount in the LTM shop on the day, handy for anyone after a stocking filler with a bit more character than usual.
