About Leeds Castle

Leeds Castle is a beautifully maintained historic site nestled within the sprawling Kentish countryside in Maidstone. Here it has stood for 900 years, brimming with fascinating architectural features and having played host to a wealth of celebrations over the centuries.

While Leeds Castle is stunning at any time of year, at Christmas this ancient building really comes alive. As well as its unique atmosphere and position, the team give their all to creating magical Christmastime events, year after year, and they've already started on 2023!

If you're in charge of planning this year's Christmas party, whether it be for family, friends or colleagues, Leeds Castle has a host of excitement in store. Held on multiple dates throughout December, guests are invited to book its carefully-curated Christmas package for their party which includes a glass of fizz on arrival, a three-course Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, as well as live DJ entertainment and dancing.

Anyone is welcome to come, so instead of going through the admin of booking a venue, finding the decorations, ordering catering and planning a playlist for your team - why not simply sign them up to Leeds Castle's Christmas event? This way, all the hard work is done for you and it will feel like a proper party.

All Christmas events are hosted in the rustic Fairfax Barn, a gorgeous space dating back to the 17th-century. This impressive structure boasts an authentic timber frame which will be decked out in festive decor and lots of sparkle come the Christmas season.

All the added extras are taken care of too, from Christmas crackers to party streamers, and while dancing ends at midnight, the castle boasts a wealth of beautiful period rooms so you can stay the night if you fancy.

The Castle

The magnificent rooms within the Castle provide a memorable setting for celebrations with family and friends. Once you are through the front door the Castle becomes your party venue for the night. Guests can enjoy pre-dinner drinks in the library followed by a game of croquet on the lawn. They can curl up on the sofas in front of the open log fires, play the piano or have a game of backgammon in the drawing rooms. Dinner can be served in the Castle dining room, with its delicate Chinese porcelain and Aubusson tapestries, while larger groups can feast in The Salon, with its magnificent fireplace and sweeping views across the moat.

Maidens Tower

Fairfax Barn

The Fairfax Barn is an immaculately restored Kentish timber-framed barn that dates from 1680. With sweeping views from its terrace across the moat to the castle, there are few better locations in Kent than The Fairfax Barn for a fun filled party night. The adjoining Terrace Room can be used for dancing, with doors that lead out on to the terrace where guests can mingle on a summer’s evening as they view the floodlit Castle. Our hospitality team will be glad to recommend bands and discos to create the perfect ambience for your celebration. The Fairfax Barn is available in the evenings from 7pm. The adjoining Stable Courtyard Bedrooms can be reserved for overnight accommodation, or for those wishing to stay longer, you can book a holiday cottage on the estate.

Battell Hall

Exclusive use of this large country manor house – Battel House is perfect for reunions, large family holidays, anniversaries or any excuse to host a special celebration for you and your friends. Built in the early 14th century as a medieval hall-house, Battel Hall is a fine example of local Kentish architecture of the Middle Ages. This large and comfortable home, full of character and distinctive features is available for exclusive private hire. Make this wonderful house your own for a special weekend or holiday. Relax in the beautiful wood panelled dining room, then move on to the drawing room or library, both wonderfully traditional rooms for entertaining. Upstairs five luxurious en-suite guest bedrooms, offer stunning views of the gardens, the North Downs and glimpses of Leeds Castle. Battel Hall is a venue for all seasons, with cosy sofas and open fires to warm the winter nights. In the spring and summer months, a beautiful 100-year-old wisteria concealing the exterior walls with perfumed blooms. Doors from the Library lead onto charming extensive gardens and woodland area, ideal for open-air drinks, high tea and croquet. The Grade II listed Battel Oast sits adjacent to Battel Hall and offers a further two bedrooms with a dining area, kitchen and its own bathroom.
