Dinings SW3 offers a stylish alternative to conventional Christmas office parties, pairing contemporary Japanese cooking with a beautiful setting in Chelsea. The restaurant’s approach and ethos blends traditional Japanese techniques with seasonal British ingredients, creating a festive dining experience that feels a cut above the rest.
At the heart of Dinings SW3 is the Japanese principle of omotenashi: thoughtful, intuitive hospitality designed to make guests feel completely at ease. Championed by chef-owner Masaki Sugisaki, this sense of care runs through the service, from the welcome on arrival to the pacing of the meal. For Christmas gatherings, it creates an atmosphere that feels personal and thoughtful, whether the occasion is a team dinner, client celebration or end-of-year meal with friends.
The Kurabu mezzanine is the restaurant’s most used private dining space. Meaning “club” in Japanese, it overlooks the main dining room giving you some of the hubub, while retaining a pleasing sense of exclusivity. It can accommodate up to 12 guests around one long table or up to 20 across several tables, making it perfect for intimate office parties and smaller company celebrations. If, though, you really want to go for it, there is a total takeover option for either half or full day hire.
Festive menus are pre-ordered and shaped around Dinings SW3’s signature style. Canapé receptions might include crispy rice skewers topped with Wester Ross salmon, hand-picked crab or avocado, alongside yellowtail sashimi with yuzu garlic, Chalk Stream trout and miniature steamed buns filled with Japanese Wagyu beef or potted native lobster.
For a seated celebration, the classics menu brings together some of the restaurant’s best-known dishes. Wester Ross salmon crispy rice is paired with yuzu emulsion and wasabi soy, while Japanese Wagyu comes in a steamed bun with date teriyaki sauce. Other plates might include double-cooked aubergine with dengaku miso, sake-kasu Cornish chicken and fine beans dressed with white balsamic miso.
Sushi remains a highlight, with bluefin tuna, cured yellowtail, seabass, seared salmon belly and shrimp tempura rolls forming a varied selection for the table. Seasonal sourcing is central throughout, from British-grown wasabi to sustainably farmed Scottish salmon.
