Hawksmoor to open in Manchester next year

hawksmoor.jpgHawksmoor is to launch its first site outside of London next year, in Manchester’s Spinningfields area.

Founders Will Beckett and Huw Gott (pictured right) only recently launched the fifth branch of Hawksmoor in Knightsbridge (following sites in Spitalfields, the City, Covent Garden and Mayfair), but already plans are underway for a sixth restaurant on Manchester’s Deansgate.

Hawksmoor Manchester will open in the Courthouse, originally built in the late Victorian era by the Office of Woods and Forests. ‘We love opening restaurants in heritage buildings’, says Gott. ‘We always try to adapt what we do to the local area, and we’ll be aiming to do something Manchester can be proud of.’

‘We’ve been coming up to Manchester for a few years now, and in that time have really enjoyed the bars and restaurants,’ says Beckett. ‘We always said that if we were going to go anywhere else it would have to be somewhere we really enjoyed spending time, and we love Manchester.’

Although it’s a move away from home for the London-based restaurant group, this new branch will be closer to farmers The Ginger Pig in Yorkshire, which supplies all of the meat for the Hawksmoor chain.
