Named after the architect who designed Christ Church in Spitalfields, the original branch of burgeoning Hawksmoor wows the crowds with some of the best steaks in town & a raft of ‘sublime’ cocktails. It looks unassuming, but inside there’s an ‘oasis of dark wood & animated buzz’, with some of the capital’s best mixologists creating a host of zesty sips at the bar (which is due for significant expansion in spring 2012). Steaks are sourced from The Ginger Pig in Yorkshire, & they’re scribbled on a blackboard – so get there early before the best cuts are wiped off. Luxurious chateaubriand is a winner, likewise the bone-in prime rib, but Hawksmoor also scores with its terrific accompaniments–bone-marrow gravy or anchovy butter with the meat, plus triple-cooked chips, heritage tomato salad or mac & cheese on the side. Afters such as the wacky cornflake ice cream are gorgeously indulgent, too. Hawksmoor has set the benchmark for steak restaurants in London – long may it reign.

The Cow Club Council: a London steak blog :: Hawksmoor
Hawksmoor must reside within 'top quartile'; and justifiably, legitimately, even rightly so. However such is the hysterical mania of statistics, that sadly, it also finds itself atop the second quintile. This bizarrely places it in the same band as The Rivington, despite the two dining experiences leaving such cavernously different impacts upon the quorum.
