Supermarket Aldi is opening a pop-up restaurant on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 November selling bottomless pigs in blankets for just £5 per ticket. All proceeds will go to Neighbourly - an award-winning platform that helps businesses make a positive impact on local communities.
Each sitting lasts for one hour, with a six-course menu on offer including traditional pigs in blankets, plant-based pigs in blankets, caramelised onion chipolatas wrapped in bacon, brie and cranberry candy cane pigs in blankets, giant Yorkshire pudding pigs in blankets, and festive pigs in blankets wood-fired sourdough pizza. Vegetarians and vegans needn't miss out, because there's also plenty of Aldi’s Plant Menu Ultimate Vegan Pigs in Blankets available too.
But that's not all! Customers can help themselves to even more porky treats in the form of unlimited Butcher’s Select Pigs in Blankets and Specially Selected Pigs in Blankets Handcooked Crisps.
In a similar fashion to London hotspot Bob Bob Ricard's 'Press for Champagne' button, there will be a ‘Press for PIBs’ button which allows diners to start the six-course menu all over again, and as many times as they like within their allotted time slot.
Restaurant-goers can also enjoy a glass of prosecco or a soft drink to wash down all of the festive feasting.
The Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, Julie Ashfield, said: 'The famous pig in blanket has always been a popular Christmas trimming, and our research really does show it to be a mighty festive staple for Brits across the nation.
'Launching a Pigs in Blanket Restaurant is a chance for Aldi fans to enjoy our biggest range yet – and not just on Christmas Day.'
Aldi is reported to have sold 38 million pigs in blankets last year, and expects to sell as many as 43 million this year. An unsurprising figure considering the trimming’s popularity, with Brits expected to work their way through an astounding 423 million PIBs on Christmas Day alone, and one in 10 of us grabbing the first by 10am!
Although tickets for the event have sold out, the restaurant will be reserving space for walk-ins - so you can chance your luck! The Aldi Pigs In Blankets Restaurant is located at Camden Passage in Islington, North London.
