London will gain another sky-high dining venue this summer, as a restaurant opens at the top of The Gherkin.
Although there has always been dining in the iconic venue, it has previously been reserved for private functions or club
members, rather than the general public. The restaurant, simply named Searcy’s at The Gherkin, will be open to
all throughout the summer, from Monday 21 July until Thursday 4 September, with booking available from 17 July.
The three-storey event space takes up floors 38-40 of the building and is run by Searcy’s, which also runs the Champagne bars at St Pancras International and One New Change, as well as Marylebone restaurant Sixtyone along with many other London venues.
Head Chef Matt Edmonds is putting together a series of British-meets-European menus for the occasion, with a 10-course tasting menu (£70) and a three-course a la carte menu (£35 at lunch, £45 at
dinner) available. There will also be Sunday brunch, complete with a mix-your-own Bloody Mary station.
While it's open, this restaurant will be the joint second-highest in London, tied with Sushisamba and beaten by
Duck & Waffle, both in the nearby Heron Tower. Ting, the newest and highest restaurant in The Shard comes third in the rankings.
