Tapas bar Barrafina’s second branch is set to launch in Covent Garden next
January, boasting a larger dining space than the Soho original, with some bookable tables.
The layout of the new restaurant will be broadly similar to its sibling (pictured), with stools surrounding a long bar that overlooks the chefs at work. However, since the second site is larger
than Barrafina Soho, a few tables will be squeezed into the dining room – and, happily for some, the restaurant intends to take bookings for this handful of seats. A private room downstairs is also
planned.
Barrafina’s executive chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho will be in charge of the kitchen at the new site, which will follow the lead of the Soho branch with classic tapas, daily fresh fish and seafood
dishes, and quality wines by the glass and carafe.
The opening of Barrafina Covent Garden was delayed when the agreement on a Drury Lane site fell through late last year. A new site has now been secured on Adelaide Street, and the team will pick up
the keys later this week. From then on, they will be busy refitting the space in time for the January launch.
