Among the clutch of towns that make up the Cotswolds, Cirencester is something of a hidden gem. This traditional market town has not yet been discovered by the heaps of tourists visiting nearby Cheltenham, which means you can still make your way through the town and see all of the sights without having to worry about crowds too much.

There is plenty to keep you busy here, whether you are a permanent resident or just a fleeting visitor. Walk along the parade of independent shops and historic buildings or admire the pastel-coloured town houses dotted along the street. Of course, there are also plenty of must-visit restaurants in Cirencester, with a broader choice of cuisines than you might expect from such a traditional town.

Among the options, you will find buzzy haunts serving Spanish tapas, smart French brasseries and Thai restaurants too. There is also a number of Indian restaurants to choose from, serving up the classic curries and naan breads that have been so wholeheartedly adopted by British people over the years.

Those who are a little less adventurous with their dinners needn’t worry though, as many Cirencester restaurants have designed best-of-British menus, full of all the classic staples.
