Bethnal Green, which is situated in East London, is a captivating area steeped in history, culture, and diversity. This area, one of the oldest and liveliest in the East End, has a rich and diverse past that spans from early medieval times to the present day. There are plenty of highlights in Bethnal Green, from its museums, markets, parks, pubs, and more. The earliest recorded names for Bethnal Green were Blithehale and Blythenhale, potentially translating to ‘happy corner’, though the origin remains uncertain. Over time, the area evolved into Blethenal Green and later Bethan Hall Green. The Green has historically been the focal point of the region, with the notable house, locally known as Kirby's Castle, once visited by the renowned London diarist Samuel Pepys. Back in the early 1700s, the house underwent a transformation into a lunatic asylum, housing numerous inmates for the ensuing two centuries.
