Great Gatsby mania is upon us, as the year that Baz Luhrmann's hotly anticipated film adaptation is finally here. It may come as no surprise, therefore, to learn that the kooky Winterwell festival has taken inspiration from F Scott Fitzgerald’s masterpiece to set this year's festival within the frame of a Roaring Twenties theme.
Over one heady, debauched day, Winterwell will take over Aynhoe Park, a country estate in the Cotswolds, welcoming guests for a whole host of activities, including croquet, ferret racing and umbrella jousting.
There will be live music, including an exploration of the golden age of jazz, while guests gorge themselves on luxury picnics and wallow in hot tubs before plucking a glass from the Champagne tower and heading to watch the fireworks display.
With actors strolling around and many in fancy dress, it's sure to feel as if you've stepped into a time warp. It’s a party that Jay Gatsby would have been proud to throw himself.
Winterwell takes place on 8 June at Aynhoe Park in Banbury, Oxfordshire. For more information, visit the festival website.
