Free pork feast today

The Pig Idea is a campaign focused on reversing the EU ban on feeding catering waste to pigs, founded by food waste expert Tristram Stuart and Wahaca’s Thomasina Miers. To promote this campaign they are hosting a one-off feast of biblical proportions in Trafalgar Square today.

Between midday and 4pm, several of the restaurants which are supporting the campaign will gather in the square to give out more than 5,000 free portions of pork-based dishes. Those taking part include Bistrot Bruno Loubet, Cabana, The Delaunay, Paternoster Chop House and — of course — Wahaca. There will also be on-stage talks, cookery demos and entertainment from Miers, Stuart and their assembly of ‘Hambassadors’: Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Valentine Warner and radio DJ Sara Cox.

To get involved, find out more about the campaign and get a free lunch, just head down to Trafalgar Square today. Otherwise visit The Pig Idea's website where you can get the full facts behind the argument and sign an online petition if you’re swayed.
