Summer is on its way, meaning that the popular Rioja Tapas Fantasticas festival – which has become a staple on the events calendar for wine and food lovers – is back.
Brought to London by Wines from Rioja, the festival will see London’s foodies indulge in authentic Spanish food and wine from the country’s most famous wine-producing region. With more than 30
top-quality wineries bringing the best reds, whites, and rosés from the region, plus pop-up offerings from a selection of London’s finest tapas restaurants, this is a real Rioja experience that’s not to be missed.
Wineries from across the region will be showcasing the very best of Rioja, with wine personalities Olly Smith and Susy Atkins on hand to talk you through the region’s wines, and fun and informal workshops and wine walks taking place throughout the day. Alternatively, create your own tapas trails as you wander from pop-up bar to pop-up bar – try a
glass of refreshing, light and zesty white Rioja paired with a simple salpicón de mariscos (seafood salad) or experiment with a silky red, matched with croquetas de jamón.
Renowned Spanish chef José Pizarro will also be joining the festival, hosting a live cookery demonstration alongside Olly
Smith, who will recommend perfect wine pairings for all sorts of tapas. With Spanish bands and DJs, as well as an innovative ‘food painting’ concept by Spanish artists to round off the entertainment, there is plenty to see and do.
Rioja is one of Spain’s most renowned wine regions, producing top-class wines that have built up a reputation as some of the
best in the world. Famous for its diverse range of beautiful reds, whites, and rosés, Rioja produces everything from fresh, young and vibrant wines to more traditional aged styles, meaning there is something for everyone to enjoy. With Rioja widely acknowledged to be
among the world’s most food-friendly wines, there is simply nothing better to enjoy with your tapas.
The Rioja Tapas Fantasticas festival will take place on 15-16 June at Potters Fields Park, near Tower Bridge. Entry
is free with the purchase of a wine glass and four tokens (£3.50) to exchange at the event’s wine and tapas stalls.
