Bonkers Bar is an immersive cocktail bar and events venue between Dalston and Stoke Newington, taking inspiration from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with a side of Lewis Carroll absurdism.
The interiors lean further into Alice in Wonderland-esque psychedelia, with Escher-like chequerboard floors and walls that create optical illusions, as well as moody low-lighting and themed rooms. Bonkers Bar is a totally unique space, and it’s available to hire for all manner of private and corporate events, from summer parties and themed events to team nights out and celebrations. The total capacity of the venue is 150 standing and 80 seated, split between 50 downstairs and 30 upstairs.
Thanks to controllable ambient lighting throughout the venue, stage lighting and state-of-the-art sound (a Void Air Motion Sound System downstairs and Bose Sound System upstairs) Bonkers Bar makes a particularly great live music and entertainment venue - the venue has hosted live music, cabaret, burlesque and more, and there’s a DJ connection available too, so you can dance the night away in your own private party space.
Meanwhile, the bespoke cocktail list carries on the Roald Dahl themes with house mixes like the Bonkers Bargarita (tequila, blue curacao, lime juice and popping candy) and Grandpa’s Old Fashioned (whisky, angostura bitters, white chocolate syrup and chocolate orange). There is no food menu at Bonkers Bar per se, but there’s also a kitchen and food prep area on site, so you can hire external catering for your event if you want to lay on some food alongside the venue's wacky cocktails.
