You’ll see Favorita’s flame-red Minis delivering Italian food all over Edinburgh, but it’s also well worth experiencing this bustling, perennially busy modern eatery at first hand. Part of a locally based group that also includes Divino Enoteca and Vittoria on the Bridge, this place majors on fantastic wood-fired pizzas (try the peerless calzone or pugliese) – although there’s much more to enjoy on the 50-dish menu. Traditional antipasti feature strongly, alongside more unusual plates such as caprino grigliato (warm goats’ cheese wrapped in radicchio leaves with grilled Mediterranean vegetables) or gnocchi mare e monti (with king prawns, black truffles and rocket). La Favorita is also a family-friendly set-up: for every adult main course, you can order a kids’ dish for £1, while children’s pizzas cost only £5. Otherwise, it might seem a touch pricey, but the quality is high.
