The younger sibling of Boma WBR on Wandsworth Bridge Road, this “cosy and friendly” offshoot brings a similar ethos to Parsons Green. ‘Boma’ is a South African word meaning ‘safe enclosure’ and the owners have tried to create a local haven combining the virtues of a neighbourhood bar and restaurant with a global outlook. Expect a diverse, eclectic menu covering everything from Padrón peppers, steamed prawn and water chestnut dumplings or roasted bone marrow with barley, pickled chilli and sourdough to Boma burgers, puffed quinoa salad, red Thai curry or hake fillet with Jerusalem artichoke purée, fennel, pipérade and lardons. Desserts might include salted caramel beignets as well as cassava cake, while brunch features a hugely popular ‘build your own’ version for a tenner. Hand-picked wines, beers and cocktails covers all bases in the drinks department. Regular live music is an added attraction.
