Oligarchs & foxy Russian heiresses will be in for a surprise should they make for Haggerston’s Russian Bar to assuage a longing for home. There’s nothing especially Russian about this edgy late-night two-floor DJ bar (although you can certainly order a shot of vodka from that neck of the woods). Indeed, it’s better known for its poles (ho, ho), used for pole-dancing after that fifth voddy & tonic. The dingy decor, cheap booze & obscure DJs are geared to the post-pub & even post-club crowd that appreciates somewhere to groove until tomorrow’s first tube. Others are attracted by the prospect of table football, or a lounge in one of the comfy sofas on the first floor. A cool late-night London hang-out: enjoy it over a bottle of cold beer, the obligatory pear cider, & shots you’ll regret come sun-up.
