No ordinary Indian restaurant, M18 also incorporates a flashy cocktail lounge and a tenpin bowling alley. The capacious interior has a nightclub feel to it, with low lighting, plush mustard-hued banquettes and bare stone walls. A highlight is the handsome curved bar, where beige chairs allow you to perch in comfort while perusing the extensive drinks menu. Perhaps start the evening with a Violet Mist cocktail (violet liqueur, gin and lavender syrup with elderflower tonic and blackberries) and end it with a whisky from the 28-strong list. Food is mostly north Indian in style, so there are plenty of tandoori dishes (try the baby lamb chops) along with rich main courses of creamy methi chicken and buttery dhal makhani. Pan-fried tilapia fish shows a subtle African-Asian influence. Afternoon teas, brunches and various set meals are also available – as are deals combining food with sessions on the four-lane bowling alley.
