What was originally Kitty Hawk’s deli, a few doors down from the bar-restaurant mothership, has been repositioned as casual satellite wine bar and daytime café The Back Room. It’s a handsome spot, with restrained Moorish-Mediterranean decor and navy leather chesterfields. City folk drop by to grab fresh coffees and pastries, or lunch on wholesome salads, cassoulets and salt-beef rolls. Come wine o’clock, sausage rolls, small plates and cheese and charcuterie platters are available for grazers. Vino is supplied by Borough Wines and includes a regularly changing cast of around 18 carefully considered options by the glass, plus house red and white (both Italian) and pink (Luberon rosé) on tap. The global roll-call might include Greeks, Uruguayans and Austrians alongside more expected New and Old World familiars across a range of styles – and priced to suit most pockets. The wine bar is open Tuesday to Friday, the café Monday to Friday.
