Towering over east London, this stylish skyscraper is famous for its iconic place within the city’s skyline. While much of the building is occupied by swanky offices, a select offering of restaurants and bars make it possible to enjoy the views, and host your own event at an impressive 40 floors up. Enter: Searcys at the Gherkin – this champagne-specialist bar and restaurant occupies three floors, each offering something different for private hire in a glamorous setting.
All sorts of events are welcomed from hen parties and birthdays to work events, baby showers and even weddings. If planning a more intimate affair, consider one of the five private dining rooms on level 38 which can be taken over separately or merged depending on the size of your gathering. The private dining rooms give incredible 360 views in a formal setting, furnished with grey carpeted floors, modern black dining chairs and white tablecloths – which of course can be swapped for your chosen décor. Singular rooms can hold between 18 to 50 people, but as mentioned, merging to create a bespoke space is absolutely possible.
The pièce de résistance, however, has to be the very top floor and home to the Helix and Iris bars. This huge space is complemented by the Gherkin’s domed, glass ceiling which adds a whole new element to the wrap-around views. Hire out either space or combine them both for the party of the century. The Iris bar can seat between 70 and 140 people, depending on how much space you’d like to dedicate to a dancefloor and entertainment. Or, take over the entire floor for a reception of up to 260 people which would wow for a special birthday, wedding or office party.
