Found near Piccadilly Circus and set within the former British Columbia House in Westminster, Estiatorio Milos is a haven of sophisticated Greek and Mediterranean seafood. It’s an elegant space - decorated with pristine marble, Grecian urns, and light wood - imbued with a sense of modern formal refinement. With restaurants based across the world from New York to Dubai, Estiatorio Milos has developed a reputation for exceptional philoxenia, the Greek term for welcoming hospitality. It’s the kind of spot you’d happily visit for both a business lunch and an important date night.

Devised by chef Costas Spiliadis, food at Estiatorio Milos encourages sharing. The menu changes frequently, varying according to what is fresh and available at local fish markets. Along with oysters from the British Isles and caviar, guests can expect raw and cured fish dishes such as Bigeye tuna sashimi with yuzu kosho, dill, and extra virgin olive oil; avgotaraho, the gently cured roe of the grey mullet; and Faroe Island salmon tartare with Fresno chilli, shallot and basil.

Along with the canonical Milos classics such as Greek meze platter, grilled octopus, and stuffed calamari, anticipate satisfying fish and seafood plates. Think Dover sole and Fagri grilled until just pearlescent, salt-baked loup de mer, and simple fried sardines with plenty of lemon.

However, if you’re really going to celebrate, we recommend the lobster - sourced from the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia, it’s grilled to perfection and served with classic Athenian pasta, Astakomakaronada. Coupled with a fine selection of wines and signature cocktails, dining at Estiatorio Milos is a recipe for holiday nostalgia. You’ll also find a pre-theatre menu, with all the favourites and a selection of traditional Greek desserts, all at a remarkable price given the Waterloo Place location.

Owner

Costas Spiliadis is the founder of global restaurant emspire Estiatorio Milos, which has sites in London, New York, LA, Miami and Dubai, to name a few. He grew up in Patras, Greece, around a food-loving family, where cooking was about both sustenance and creative expression. He opened the first Estiatorio Milos in 1979 in Montreal, and now has a total of 10 sites across eight cities. Spiliadis' follows a simple cooking approach and draws on his relationships with key suppliers to offer the highest quality food possible across all his restaurants.

Lunch Menu

The food at Milos is wonderful.  I have been eating  in this restaurant for quite a few years and always thought the lunch time menu good value.  Sadly it has been creeping up in price, £20 £25 £29 ....On this visit I noticed it had risen to £32.50 and a number of dishes had a rather large supplement charge.  We were celebrating two birthdays so added a couple of dishes from the al la carte menu forgetting how expensive they were.  The bill was huge, the meal gorgeous but regrettably we decided we would not be frequenting this restaurant as often as before.  It is no longer good value.

Pushy waiter and unexpected bill leave a sour taste...AVOID

What was a good team lunch spoiled by an unexpected £430 price for a fish included on our bill.  My team had been told £90 and the labels on the fish do not specify "per kg".  The fish was nearly 5kg for just 5 people, but when £90 had been quoted, we figured no problem, someone will take home the leftovers.  I questioned this with the restaurant at the end once the bill had arrived, and was told that my team was not paying attention.  My team isn't stupid and they would realise that this was over and above what we wanted to spend, had it been clear that this was not a £90 fish but a £430 fish!  The restaurant took advantage of our relaxed mood to sell us pricy stuff without our knowledge.  In addition, when trying to select wine, the sommelier was pushing £150 bottles.  Check you credit card is still in your pocket and walk past without stopping...I was robbed in this place.

The word "spectacular" comes to mind. From the moment you walk in with the seafood buffet gloriously displayed, to the subtle and yet impressive chefs working on the floor above with cheese, house-strained yoghurt and cheerful chatter, I think it is an experience, to eat in Milos, worth having and difficult to forget.
